From Cape Town, South Africa, Sharon Lomofsky gained international recognition for her Production Design of the award winning film “Before the Rain”. Winner “Golden Lion”, Venice 1994, Independent Spirit award and Oscar Nomination, Best Foreign Film 1995. She designed critically acclaimed “Manny and Lo”, “Claire Dolan”, “Pinero”, “A Love Song For Bobby Long”, “The King”, (Un Certain Regard, Cannes 2005), “Stephanie Daley”, (Winner, Waldo Salt Award, Sundance 2006), “El Cantante”, and “I Think I Love my Wife”, a Chris Rock Comedy.
“Bring it On” topped the box office in the U.S. and James Marsh’s, “Man on Wire” was the Best Documentary Oscar Winner 2009 and won Bafta Best British Film 2009. She worked on Vera Farmiga’s critically acclaimed directorial debut, “Higher Ground”, (Sundance special competition 2011) and Jake Schreier’s “Robot and Frank”. (Alfred P. Sloan Prize, Sundance 2012).
She has worked on Blumhouse / Universal’s Box office successes “Purge Election Year” and “The First Purge” and Jeanine Barrio/ TNT’s “Claws” starring Niecy Nash and designed “Younger S7”. For Darren Starr /Paramount.
More recently she designed Taffy Brodesser-Akner, FX Emmy nominated “Fleishman Is In Trouble”, AV Rockwell/Focus Feature’s Award winning Period Feature “A Thousand And One”, Sundance Jury Award 2023, Gotham Award - best new director,
Diarra Kilpatrick’s comedy Noire TV show- “Diarra From Detroit”,
Sharon Lomofsky has most recently designed Netflix/ Tina Faye’s “The Four Seasons”, S1 and S2 and “Vladimir” starring Rachel Weiss, Leo Woodall and Jon Slattery.
She studied Architecture at The University of Cape Town and Theater and Set design at “The Studio and Forum of stage Design” in NY. She has worked her way up in the art dept. doing commercials, music video and Film both in NY and South Africa.
She is always grateful to practice her craft; to collaborate and to serve the story at hand.
